Week #16 started with a short trip up to Ashbourne, a lovely market town 30 min north of Derby. Michael and I explored various (independent) shops and the local church, craving for a warm place to stay as it was really cold that day. We ended up in a pub of course.^^ On Tuesday, Michael had to go back to Austria and to sort out the broken side mirror of his rental car (yeeeah, some streets in Derby are very narrow indeed). I spent most of the day practicing for my audition for Derby Bach Choir on Wednesday and was lucky that a music teacher of my school helped me with that. Aaaaaaaand in the end I passed! Wasn’t that bad really as the conductor turned out to be very gentle. So in the end I was super glad when the treasurer of the choir said “You’re in!” 🙂
Thursday (31.01.) was pay day for me, so I did a five hour shopping tour at Westfield. 😀 Bought tea for my aunt (it was her birthday on Sunday), some clothes and a bun maker (that’s some sort “plastic doughnut” for making this hairstyle), earrings and lots of other stuff. Was completely exhausted afterwards.^^
Friday, Saturday and Sunday were rather quiet, but Sunday was super exciting as my colleague Babs, who is a FLA in Loughborough, came to visit me. 🙂 We went to QUAD, the cathedral, Westfield, the city centre, Standing Order (lunch), Dolphin Inne (beer) and Pickford’s House, a beautiful townhouse from 1770 (now a museum). We got the chance to experience what life was like back in the Georgian age and really liked what the place had to offer. 🙂 Nice garden, too!
